Grape: 51% Pinot Noir, 38% Chardonnay, 11% Pinot Meunier Tasting Notes: Citrus, Baked Bread, Nuts, Apple The House was established in Reims in 1843, by Joseph Krug. Since 1843, six generations of the Krug family have enriched Joseph's vision of crafting the very best Champagne he could offer, every single year, regardless of annual variations in climate. The 170th release is based on a blend of 195 wines from 12 different years. The youngest is from the year 2014 and the oldest dates back to 1998. It’s Krug's distinctive blend, made up of 45% aged reserve wines and 55% fresher vintages that endow the Grande Cuvée with such a complex range of flavors. The palate is mouthwatering, rich, seamless, fresh, complex, and broad delivering flavors of lemon, grapefruit, nectarine, hazelnut, almonds, brioche, minerals, and honey with a light yeasty note. It's medium-bodied and finely balanced with vivid, driven acidity and a creamy texture. Excellent accompanying oysters, grilled shrimps, Indian or Moroccan food, as well as desserts such as tarte tatin and cheesecake.
